Soundsweekly Radio Ep. 21 - Space II

From the depths of the deep, deep jungle, we turn our attention towards the final frontier. Space was one of the first ever themed shows we ever did here at Soundsweekly and we felt the time was ripe for a return voyage. As there were simply too many jams to pack into one show, we decided to split it up over two.

Satellite is an ode to the many shades of the vast nothingness of the great beyond, perfect for zoning out if you're ever feeling inclined to do so. Voyager, as its title suggests, is more of an adventure; packed to the brim with galactic oonce and cosmic boogie, you'll feel as if you've travelled a hundred parsecs in the space of a few hours. You don't really have to listen to them in any particular order or together even.

Soundsweekly Radio Ep. 18

You're on your daily commute into the city, its just like any other day. Somewhere along the way though, you slip into the slipstream of a subconscious. Its heart beats to the klang and bleep of metal boxes clogging up the backstreets of its arteries. With each turn of your head, layers stack upon layers stack upon you. You best believe that if you're not careful, the city, it'll swallow you whole.

It's been a while between shows but we're finally back!! For the second show in a row its the unstoppable duo of Marty & Alex (aka ymana & striccly riddims) going deeper than ever into all sounds weird and wonderful. Stay tuned for more journeys like this in the coming weeks (we're trying our darndest to get the next one out as soon as possible), and also don't forget we deliver audio vitamins on pretty much a daily basis now. What more could you ask for?

Allnightlong @ Moog Club 24th Aug 2016 - John Talabot

Earlier this year I posted the MCDE v Jeremy Underground 5 hour extravaganza having only listened to a couple of hours of it, perhaps naively putting off listening to it all in one go til a later date. That still hasn't happened, however I have listened to all of it broken up in 1 and a half to 2 hour blocks. Perhaps its just the nature of the type of music in that mix that it doesn't translate well for extended periods. Well today I've got another 5 hour set for your lucky ears to latch onto, and dare I say, it is a much better fit for the 5 hour mix format (if that is even a thing) than the MCDE v JU mix.
I remember the first time I heard John Talabot's DJ Kicks mix, and thinking to myself that it was the first I'd heard a DJ mix that matched the feel and craft of a live set recorded with a whole studio full of gear. All songs are expertly mixed, forming one of the richest musical journeys I can remember hearing for a very long time. Reminiscent of that German slow deep house/tech vibe, this one is perfect for long reading sessions, or a gentle stroll down Boogie Blvd on a Sunday arvo.

Baker's Dozen - Derby Dozen

Been on a housey/techy/dancey tip of late, oontsz from 9-5 and then during dinner and in my dreams. Despite the very real danger of burning out and needing a good week or two on no music/ambient stuff, I've decided to strike while the iron is hot. Some interesting stuff in there amongst some classics.

Motor City Drum Ensemble vs Jeremy Underground - RA 530 9 HOUR SPECIAL!!!

Well well well!! After we were all left salivating from their exploits last year, (which was also put up by Resident Advisor) they've come back for round two which lasts a whopping 9 hours (that's no typo folks).  As expected it features the juiciest cuts of funky disco all the way through to the bangin'-est house and techno. I've only gotten a few hours into it, but the mix is as solid as you would expect from the duo who are at the forefront of mixing classic analog jams with modern tumpers. Connected by threads of soul and sheer boogie-ability, this is one I expect to be rinsing for months, if not more. Get on it!!

DOWNLOAD - Not sure how long RA keep their mixes online, but may as well get it before it's too late.

EDIT: Tracklist is also available, you can find it here.
