DJ Haus - No Sense EP

As we've all come to expect from Clone's Jack For Daze imprint, 4 straight up dance-floor burners that bang like no tomorrow. First up on the A side is the title track, in classic jackin' house style melody is thrown to the wayside and in its place, every nook and cranny is crammed with heaving sequenced drum kicks, claps and hats. Where the song really comes into its own is through Legowelt's re-imagining of the track; which should come as no surprise given Legowelt's legendary status as a producer of some of the tumpinest cuts out there. Moody strings and vocal snippets take the tune to the next level, giving it purpose and direction, sure it still fits the four to the floor mould pretty tightly but there is a bit more ebb and flow to it which I'm sure we all can appreciate.

The B side starts off with the Acid Dub of In The Body a tune that if anything is timely given the recent re-imagining of the TB303 from Roland. Whilst the bass line hits in all the right places, I'm not completely satisfied with the working of vocal sample; in parts it does feel like your old flogging of the dead horse. Sure, the right combination of people and drugs might make it less noticeable, however sometimes restraint speaks louder than playing a sample from the same cue point a million times.

Rounding tings off is the Vin Sol's remix of the same track. Whilst the tempo is kicked up a notch, Vin Sol has chosen to give the arrangement a lot more breathing room, the squelching acid bassline is nowhere to be heard apart from a few points. There doesn't seem to be too much going on apart from bringing certain tracks in and out, however every release needs its lowpoint and unfortunately this one is it.

That said, still a solid release, will be rinsing the Legowelt remix for weeks to come.
